With Less, Do More

Leadership Team 2025

Team Principal

Henry Lipshut

I’m Henry, I was born and raised in Melbourne, only 10 minute's drive from Albert Park, motorsport has always been one of my passions.
I am in my third year of my bachelor's of science (majoring in aviation and mathematics), and an Army Officer Cadet and the Team Principal.
After working in both dynamics and structures in 2023 and being the Dynamics lead in 2024, I hope to work with all the incredible people here in our team and help lead us to the success we've worked so hard to achieve.

Technical Director

Jack Amos

My name is Jack Amos. I was born and raised in the nation’s capital, with a love for anything with wheels. Tinkering started in the most classic fashion with Lego, but once I had my own bicycle, the drive to customize and develop my own machinery took off.
I have been with this team since I started my degree in 2021, and now have the privilege of taking on the role of Technical Director for 2024.
Should you find me outside of uni, I will likely be in my own garage, accompanied by my part-time track WRX, my daily 2019 Honda Grom or my 2017 Honda Fireblade, CBR1000RR.

Academic Supervisor

Matthew Doolan

Matthew Doolan completed his PhD in process control at Ford Australia's Stamping Operations Facility. He has worked for the Mount Stromlo Observatory on the world's largest telescopes, the Gemini telescopes, and as an academic at Australian National University and now at the School of Engineering and Technology UNSW Canberra. He has led many manufacturing industry research projects cover the gamut from process and dimensional control with Ford Australia, to supply chain management with Toll Auto Logistics and Futuris, to vehicle recycling with the AutoCRC. He was a Chief Investigator of the ARC Training centre of Lightweight Automotive Structures (ATLAS). He also continues to work with a range of industry partners on manufacturing projects in the areas of process monitoring and control, recycling, and lifecycle assessment.

High Voltage Leader

Ryan Verghese

I am Ryan Verghese, second year Bachelor of Electrical Engineering student at UNSW Canberra and the High Voltage Lead for MD24.
Though I am not a motorsport enthusiast, the engineering aspect of each subsystem accumulating into one complex and mobile machine thrills me. My background is primarily based on ethical hacking, research, and electrical implementation.
Some deliverables I wish to incorporate into Academy Racing include hands-on learning with High Voltage systems and safety along with a plethora of diverse skills such as, but not limited to, team leadership and research skills.

Low Voltage Leader

Sufian Alzaanin

My name is Sufian, and I was raised in New Zealand. I’ve had a passion for electronics that control motor vehicles from a young age. Currently, I’m in my third year of a Bachelor of Honours in Electrical Engineering, serving as the Low Voltage Lead.
After experiencing both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) systems over the past two years, I’ve realised that low voltage is the right path for me.
My goal is to contribute to making the car rules compliant.

Mechanical Leader

Elizabeth Wilkie

My name is Liz and I’m the Structures and Aero Lead for 2025. As a second year RAAF Officer Cadet studying a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering I am particularly interested in the design and manufacture of the aerodynamic elements of the car and the usage of composites on the vehicle.
Structures also covers the mounting systems, all bodywork and driver safety systems on the vehicle working to ensure many of the mechanical elements of the car are rules and safety compliant.

Sporting Director

Kieren Armitage

I am Kieren, a second year Royal Australian Navy Engineering Midshipman, and I am the Scrutineer for 2025.
I was born in Brisbane, Queensland and have a keen interest for all things mechanical, having worked on light aircraft growing up.
My primary role is to review the designs of each of the subsystems to ensure rules compliance, and assist with ensuring deadlines are met for the completion.
Outside of uni you can find me working with the team or playing football.
